Goals

The Department of Soil Science aims to encourage academic excellence in the studies, research, and improvement in the provision of appropriate soil technologies. Through the combination of local wisdom and universal wisdom, the department has the purpose of promoting agricultural production and environmental preservation.

The Department of Soil Science has a long history. It has been one of the academic units in Kasetsart University since the university's establishment in 1943. The department was appointed as one of the university's academic departments of the Faculty of Agriculture according to the announcement of the Office of the Prime Minister concerning official unit division in Kasetsart University in 1968

Nowadays, the Department of Soil Science is responsible for the providing of teaching and learning activities according to Soil Science academic curriculums of 3 levels of studies which are Bachelor of Science(Agricultural Science), majoring in Soil Science, Master of Science(Soil Science), and Doctor of Philosophy(Soil Science). Additionally, the Department of Soil Science is also responsible for the teaching and learning activities in the Program of Bachelor of Science(Agricultural Chemistry), Master of Science (Tropical Agriculture), and Doctor of Philosophy(Tropical Agriculture).

The Department of Soil Science has the solid goals in building knowledge units of soil science and soil technologies for the improvement of Thailand's agriculture and environment in the agricultural context of sufficient agriculture, for the improvement of farmers' life condition, and for the qualified graduates equipped with knowledge, virtue, and morality.
